Playing in the rain

The rain didn’t stop for days, eventually flooding the local park & shallow roads. Pat just bought a toy camera and was eager to go and try it out. I suggested we make a run for it down to the park, i’ll cover my Canon 30D in a shopping bag and tape it onto my hand (I thought it was a brilliant idea). We kept dry for about 10 seconds before we were drenched, camera and all.
These photos Pat took of me with my Canon 30D. PLAYING IN THE RAIN!

Instagram

I dont usually post photos up that i took of my phone. Some might say “thats not photography!” well i agree. But it is a quick way to take a photo of a moment that you would otherwise miss. Also i don’t think theres anything wrong with using all types of photo making devices. Wether it’s a DSLR, Analogue camera, toy camera or a phone. Its great to not be in a square box with no windows.
This first image i’m trying to capture the excitement of buying my first roll of black and white film for my Olympus i got for my last birthday. With any luck, the first roll will be processed by the coming weekend.

Friday night

Photos from last night with the boys. Don’t let these photos fool you, we are skating in complete darkness. With light provided by the moon and the flash from my camera. Hope you enjoy

rainy days

It rains and it rains. I can’t help but to feel sorry for myself. Inside looking out the window hoping it will blow past soon. I’m not going to let the rain get the better of me. I’m opening this door and stepping out the front. That is if i can find some warm clothes, or any better excuses like that.

I took my camera for a walk before I went crazy. Walked around the block and just looked around at things that I don’t usually stop and notice.

Night Skate

Often late at night will be the best time to skate the favourite spot. No one walking around complaining about ‘damn skate boards’. Nothing better then going for a sneaky skate, except when you bring your camera.
I am reading a book called ‘shooting with flash’. The electronic flash is far more beyond my skill’s then I thought. So to over come this dilemma, I will be carrying around my flash in my kit and using it as often as possible.

Street portrait

There is many ways to take a portrait, often to explore an identity. The Portrait has moved away from it’s commercial roots and into a more creative expression. Often to become a powerful encounter or exchange between artist, sitter and spectator. Sometimes the ideas behind a portrait is unclear, and have to be accepted for what it is. Everyone has a deferent perception of a portrait and what they read, and reactions to a portrait can vary enormously.

In my portraits i like to create a space of my own, that is partially the way i perceive the model and partially the way the model wants to be portrayed. I want the spectator to ask the question.. why & how? Bring your own story to the photograph.

If you do have
